Traveling with cloth diapers
Traveling with cloth diapers is definately doable. The success rate increases if you have access to a washer during your travels. The easiest system to travel with are flats and PUL covers. It is a very economical and convenient way to use while traveling.
Because flats are usually just a single layer, they wash easily and dry fast, even when line drying. Covers can be reused up to three times with a new flat, as long as there is no poop in the diaper. Both flats and covers are super forgiving, so if your wash routine is not perfect while traveling, you can just deep clean them when you come back home.
If you don’t have access to a washer while traveling, you can wash by hand in the bathtub or in a bucket with a stick or a plunger. Washing by hand with the bucket and plunger method is easy and has proven to deliver very clean diapers, in my experience. Just give them a good deep clean when you come back home.
Some people choose to use disposable diapers when traveling, as they don’t want to spend time washing them during their vacation, and that is ok. You decide what is most important for you and your family. And if using disposable diapers on your holiday gives you the break you need, then choose that. Luckily disposable diapers are slowly getting better and use less chemicals than they used to, so there are some safer options of sposies out there.
